Jones Ultra Mountain Twin 2015-16 Product Review

Based on the Mountain Twin, Jones have stepped up both the construction and performance to create a board that is aimed squarely at more experienced riders who want that award winning versatility but who also want a no compromise powerful and dynamic ride. Built around the same twin tip chassis as the standard board, it’s the Ultra’s ability to blend a playful and freestyle friendly ride with big mountain performance that really does set this apart from the competition. The key to this versatility is the unique blunt nose profile; this features extended contact points which control how the snow flows past the nose to give a level of float that is nothing short of a revelation for a twin. Add the CamRock profile which combines rocker at the tip and tail with camber under the feet and a 20 mm setback and it’s easy to see why this board deliver such great performance. But it’s what’s inside the Ultra Mountain Twin that really steps things up. The new triple density wood core with Beech stringers along the edges and structural layers formed from multi layered multi axis fibreglass with dual zone carbon fibre power bands and carbon stringers running tip to tail deliver a powerful and responsive ride that is truly mind blowing. The 9900 base is one of the hardest and fastest bases available.
