When you see a marketing product or ebook, do you search Google for information on whether that product is worth purchasing? I've done that for years and often found customer reviews and comments that helped make informed buying decisions.
Trying to find an honest review these days is like one needle in two haystacks as almost all sites, blogs and articles that claim to be "reviewing" a product are only attempts to sell the product or an ad to sell a competitive product.
Try entering a product name in Google search – followed by the word "review." One thing you'll notice are comments copy / pasted word for word from the affiliate ads provided by the seller of that item.
In the work at home niche fake reviews are the norm. According to the webpage or blog post, the person has successfully used this product or is a member of that particular online program – and they've made thousands! Yeah, right. Why is it that same person is posting on a marketing blog at the same time and complaining can not make any money?
Could it be he's never actually bought or read the eBook he's reviewing? Could he be just another affiliate trying to convince people to buy through his link? Truth is, that person probably has not used the item he's selling and is simply trying to convince you to buy through his affiliate link. It's just marketing.
The good news is that many experienced marketers are no longer using fake reviews (if they ever did) and it is possible to find an honest product review that gives both the pros and cons and can help you decide if the eBook or software or whatever is something you can use.
Honest review sites and blogs do exist. Searching the Google results for those webpages will help you make informed purchase decisions. Just remember to be as skeptical of the reviews as you are of the products.
After using the Cineroid EVF for over a month I am confident it is a very good product.
Priced $799, this type of accessory is from the kind that will escort you to your next shooting device as long as it has an HDMI output.
In my video review I should have mentioned under “what type of improvements I would like to see”?, a USB connection for future possible firmware updates and a squeeze mode to allow the use of anamorphic lenses.
It is worth mentioning that this company is starving to give excellent service and its American distributer is present in user forums like dvxuser.com

The Streetswise 1000K stun gun model is one of the strongest on the market. According to the manufacturer, it is capable of administrating a 1,000,000 volt charge. To keep the unit non-lethal, the amperage is quite low by design. It is a rather tall unit as it holds three 9 volt batteries. (Less powerful stun guns typically take one battery.) It is 8 1/4 inches tall, 2 1/4 inches wide and 1 1/8 inches thick. The unit's case is a matte black plastic as are all stun guns of this nature. It features a master on-off switch and a firing rocker switch. This switch must be held to fire the gun. Once you lift your finger off the switch, the firing stops. Also included is a 130db alarm.
The Streetwise SW1000 features a disable pin with loop that you attach to the underside of the unit. You put the loop around your wrist. If an attacker snatches the gun away from you, the pin will pull out of the unit and it will be completely disabled ,. That way the attacker can not use the gun on you.
Sometimes "gun" is a misnomer because this tall rectangular device looks nothing like a gun. Would stun guns be less controversial if they were not called guns at all? Perhaps. It should be noted that stun guns like this one fire nothing through the air (except a spark between its two electrodes). It is not a TASER. The unit must be held to the aggressor's skin or clothing to be effective. The effects are temporary and non-lethal unlike a firearm.
As befitting a high voltage unit, this device sports two 3/17 inch diameter electrodes quite a bit wider than less units. The snapping sound when activated is louder with a stronger visible spark. The intimidation factor is high. It is known that some aggressors will immediately flee when confronted with the menacing sound and site of the arcing electrodes.
This device includes a 130 db alarm which is unusual in a traditionally shaped stun gun. The alarm button is right underneath the toggle on / fire switch for easy accessibility. It is suggested to try the alarm first in an actual encounter as this may be enough to scare off your enemy.
In summary the Streetwise SW1000 stun gun is an impressive high voltage unit. The case is sturdy and comes with a nylon holster with belt loop. Installing three 9 volt batteries take a bit of finagling to fit inside the unit but once in, they stay put. The manufacturer recommends using name brand alkaline batteries for reliable performance.
Streetwise has now updated the SW1000 to the rechargeable SWT5000R Toucdown model. It features the same tall profile but it has much more power and a built-in LED flashlight.
Update: Conurus has been kind enough to inform me that the firmware I was using for this review is out of date, and that a newer firmware fixes the IS issue I had.
Here’s a quick review of the Metabones EOS to E Mount adapter for NEX cameras—specifically the FS100.
The first thing I noticed was how solid and substantial it felt. You can see the connectors that interface with each electronic mount, there’s some sort of I/O for firmware use, and a depth of field preview button.
The release trigger is easy to use, unlike my fotodiox adapter.
The build quality is exceptional (especially for the price).
Here’s a list of lenses that I tested, and all worked:
-Canon 50mm 1.4
-Canon 100mm 2.8 Macro
-Canon 70-200mm 2.8 IS II (IS worked)
-Canon 28-135 stock 7D lens (IS worked)
-Tokina 11-16mm 2.8
An issue I’ve found is that sometimes switching lenses causes the adapter to not recognize the lens at first. After detaching completely (so the contacts aren’t meeting) and resetting the lens, it can be controlled.
F-stops are shown on the display. It now feels like my EF lenses and the FS100 are finally a complete camera system.
To conclude, this adapter may seem high in price, but it’s the only one in it’s class at the moment, and considering what other companies were asking for a higher price with less features, this pricepoint seems perfectly acceptable.
