Product Review – The New Aircast Cryo-Cuff IC Cold Therapy System

The use of cold therapy in the treatment of acute injuries and post-surgery is used extensively in orthopedics and rehabilitation medicine. Many people are already familiar with the RICE principle of:

1)Rest

2)Ice

3)Compression

4)Elevation

By applying these rules following an injury or after surgery, dramatically reduces the pain and swelling associated with these conditions.

Ice or cold is the benchmark for reducing pain. The application of cold reduces inflammation, which is your body’s response to stress or injury. Applying cold to an injured area constricts blood vessels around that area, and slows down the body’s response to the trauma that has occurred. Applying cold to an injured area also has a numbing effect on the peripheral nerves further reducing the sensation of pain.

Compression is a way of controlling swelling by reducing the fluid that pools around an injured area. Swelling is a natural body response to trauma, but excessive swelling can effect the healing time of an injured area.

Motorized cold units are devices that provide prolonged cold treatment to an injured area, or an area that has undergone surgery. The advantages of these units compared to cold wraps and gels are numerous. By maintaining a more constant and accurate temperature over a long period of time, reduces the chance of tissue damage from excessive cold temperatures. Since most wraps and cold pads only last 20-30 minutes at maximum, having a unit provide up to 7 hours of continuous cold improves patient compliance and reduces the need for pain medication.

Most cold units on the market only provide cold therapy, and not compression. The only way to achieve both was to wrap the involved area with a compression bandage and then place the cold pad over the bandage. This of course reduces the penetration of the cold therapy to the injured area.

The New Aircast Cryo/Cuff IC by DJO, Inc. is a unique and portable device that solves both problems.

The unit integrates a pneumatic pump within the coolers lid to provide automated compression and cold therapy. An older version of this device called the Autochill placed the motor outside of the cooler and did not provide compression.

The cooler holds water and ice needed for 6-8 hours of cryotherapy. The unit is available with a selection of insulated extremity cuffs that are designed to reduces condensation and leakage, another common problem with many cold therapy units. The pads can be disconnected from the cooler for patient mobility during treatment. The Cryo/Cuff IC provides a 30 second on/off automatic intermittent compression cycle in addition to the cold therapy. The unit is available with Cryo/Cuffs for the ankle, knee, shoulder, back and hip.

The Aircast Cryo/Cuff IC combines focused compression with cold therapy to provide optimal control of swelling to minimize hemarthrosis, edema and pain.

The ease of operation makes the Aircast Cryo/Cuff IC ideal for post-operative recovery, trauma, athletic training rooms and for home use.

Cryotherapy should not be used by persons with Diabetes, Raynaud’s or other vasospastic disease, cold hypersensitivity, or compromised local circulation. Please consult with your healthcare provider to determine if the Aircast Cryo/Cuff IC is indicated for your condition.

Product Review: Produceev

Task management is something that many of us practice. We sort, organize, and create an agenda in order to make our work days more efficient. To aid us in our task management, Proctetev has created a solution to help us manage our work. This software is still new to the market, but has much potential, and it can be quite useful for anyone, not just businesses.

Task management has been something we each do ourselves. When we want to work, we turn off our cell-phones, avoid messages, and even e-mails. But those dings and alerts tend to still get us. They distract us from what we're doing, even if it's for just a second. Then, out of curiosity, we find ourselves checking our messages. That seems a little counterproductive to what we're trying to do- work. This is where Prodcteev comes in.

Produceeev is designed to help you organize your day, set time allotments for work, and even allow you to receive messages when you're ready for them, rather than filling your works up with data that has to wait. Overall, the idea is awesome and very affordable. You can start with a minimum setup for free. The regular, which has email capabilities, is only five dollars a month. With the email options, comes the ability to add, review, and sort tasks, set deadlines, and upload your files.

When you're using the management system, your emails can be forwarded to Produceeev, and they will create a task list and send you alerts when needed. Wherever your workspace is preferred, whether it be through instant messaging, email, web, phone, or Gmail, they can help you manage your tasks through these mediums. This provides a wide suite of available task sourcing so that you can be reached just about anywhere you are.

A bonus app was designed for the iPhone, offering some rather cool options. You can choose and structure a schedule for when you want to be able to receive messages and alerts. You can even set up important notifications that you want to alert you when you need them too. Say for instance that you need to focus on work, so you have your alerts turned off. In case of emergency, those alerts of your choosing can still alert you so that you do not have to turn your phone off to avoid unnecessary calls.

Unfortunately, the iPhone is the only mobile device to have the app, so far. Until they have apps for the Droid and other cellular devices, your best bet is to simply turn them to silent until you're ready to be in contact again.

The nice thing about Produceeev is that it works both online or offline. Scheduling and alerts still go on as scheduled, allowing you to continue keeping your agenda no matter where you are. You can label, arrange, organize your schedule, and then have complete access to it whether or not you're uplinked to the system.

The compatibility with Google is nice. Gmail and Google Calendar both have the ability to sync with Produceeev to keep your agenda flowing smoothly. You do not have to jump around to try to find out where you need to be. Everything can be centralized in one place to keep things simple for you. Produceev also has compatibility with Outlook in order to expand its coverage to ensure a quality task management system.

Overall, Produceeev is a handy tool for the business person on the go. We do not all have time to manage our time, and it can be worth it to have a helping hand ready to take some of the load. While it is not as available for the cellular systems as it could be, there is still time to expand their horizon. If you're in need of a good task management system, Produceeev is affordable and can make your day flow smoothly as planned.
